The SMD 600 Plus MI2 is optimized for screening people in applications where simultaneous detection of metal weapons (magnetic and non-magnetic, including light alloys) and all cellphones/smartphones, including the most miniaturized, low-metal-content versions, is required. This dual-sensor system combines the renowned weapons detection and personal metallic objects discrimination performance of the SMD 600 Plus, a 288-channel, NIJ-0601.02 fully compliant walk-through metal detector, with the cellphone/smartphone detection capabilities of the MSD EVO, a state-of-the-art magnetostatic 18-axes detector. The MI2 sensor provides unparalleled detection uniformity and immunity against interferences while detecting standard and miniaturized cellphones and smartphones concealed on the person or in body cavities. The system also detects magnetized items, such as smartwatches and select headphones/earbuds, and provides multizone yellow signaling to differentiate cellphone alarms from weapon detections.
The SMD 600 Plus MI2 provides specific optical and acoustical signaling for either weapons (multizone red) or cellphones/smartphones (multizone yellow), facilitating secondary inspection performed by security operators. High-throughput screening with a low nuisance alarm rate handles standard checkpoint divestiture situations where detection of assembled/disassembled firearms and standard/miniaturized cellphones is required.
